Seattle Office Sponsors YWCA Inspire Luncheons

The YWCA of Seattle | King | Snohomish serves nearly 44,000 women and families annually. The mission of this organization is to advance the quality of life for women of all ages, races and faiths and their families by promoting self-sufficiency and reducing violence. The YWCA vision is to create a community where all women and families have a safe and stable place to live, all adults have the opportunity to earn a livable wage and achieve self-sufficiency, all children and youth can develop the skills they need to succeed in life and all people can live in dignity—free from violence, racism and discrimination. The critical issues that the YWCA addresses in our community include: homelessness, unemployment, child care, domestic violence and the overall under representation of women in positions of power who can effect change in these arenas.

Helena Toys for Tots

The staff of Anderson ZurMuehlen and Employee Benefit Resourses participated in the annual Toys for Tots campaign. The boxes filled up with well over 200 toys to be used for Christmas gifts to local children.

The primary goal of Toys for Tots, organized by the Marine Corps Reserve, is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy children of our community. By participating in this wonderful program, we have been able to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate children in the Helena, Townsend and Lincoln areas for the past 10 years.

Missoula Festival of Trees

Staff at the Anderson ZurMuehlen Missoula office created and donated a tree for the 2009 Festival of Trees event.  The Festival of Trees is a weeklong fundraiser for Mountain Home Montana, which gives young mothers a nurturing environment to help them find their strengths and give their children a healthy childhood.

This year the Anderson ZurMuehlen tree raised $350.00 for Mountain Home Montana.

Operation Snuggle

Operation Snuggle, which originated in Oregon, provides fleece blankets and warm outerwear to kids through the donation of time and materials by businesses and individuals in a community.  This year Anderson ZurMuehlen coordinated the first Montana Operation Snuggle chapter.

On Saturday, December 5, staff from the Anderson ZurMuehlen Helena office, as well as family and friends, tied fleece blankets for this great cause.  Staff who couldn’t make it to the event workshop participated by completing blankets at home and donating money for materials.  The goal was to complete 25 blankets, but we surpassed that goal by making 37 blankets! The blankets have been donated to the Friendship Center and the Helena School District.  In addition, one was given to each member of the Helena Office Adopt-a-Family sponsored this Christmas.

Bozeman United Way After-School Program

The Bozeman office hosted a field trip for kids in a United Way after-school program from White Sulphur Springs.  The idea for the field trip came from Carole Townsend, United Way’s Executive Director.  The kids got to spend a day in the “big city” of Bozeman.  Anderson ZurMuehlen employees met the kids at the Museum of the Rockies and spent the day checking out the exhibits.  The kids really enjoyed the Hall of Dinosaurs...as one boy said, “I like them because of their teeth...they could eat stuff...like people!”  After the museum, everyone went to lunch at a country club, where the kids practiced ordering off a menu and proper dining etiquette.  After lunch, Border’s bookstore provided books from a recent book drive and each child got to pick one to take home.  The field trip was very beneficial to the kids, giving them an opportunity to be exposed to things they couldn’t see in White Sulphur Springs.  Not only did the Bozeman staff get to expand the minds of young children, but they even learned a little bit too!

Thanksgiving Food Drive in Bozeman

The Bozeman office held its Thanksgiving “door-to-door” food drive on November 19th and 20th.  The drive was a HUGE success!  Bozeman staffers and volunteers from Wells Fargo and JLF & Associates collected two truckloads of food, including some much-needed turkeys!  It was very inspiring to see so many people participating and thinking of others during the holiday season.  The food drive volunteers met at Spectator’s afterwards for a drink and to celebrate their success.  All donations will go to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.

Bozeman Emerging Leaders’ Conference A Huge Success!

The first-ever Emerging Leaders’ Conference, hosted by Anderson ZurMuehlen and the Greater Gallatin United Way, was a huge success! Renowned writer and non-profit consultant Jan Masaoka was a great speaker, sharing tons of knowledge with the conference attendees. Shareholder Bill Mills and other Bozeman staff did an excellent job demystifying financial statements, facilitating table discussions, and leading groups in a mock board meeting. The day was filled not only with opportunities to learn, but also to network with other young professionals and non-profit representatives. Attendees left the conference equipped with the knowledge and the tools to get more involved with local organizations. Giving back is a tradition at Anderson ZurMuehlen, and the Bozeman office is committed to sharing the benefits of community involvement.
